Description
Ex voto heart handcrafted from recycled newspaper pulp. Inspired by Mexican hearts but with a touch of South America, this ex voto heart is the work of Chilean artist Mariana Vilches. Her ex votos are made with a paste according to a mixture invented by her mother, sculptor Patricia Schmidt. It is worked cold, avoiding any energy consumption, and solidified by adding plaster waste to the mixture. Born in the late 90s, this technique characterizes a 100% upcycled manufacturing process (“upcycling” or recycling from above) based on the recovery of materials that are no longer used in order to transform them into superior quality products. It makes this unique decoration a totally eco-responsible product.
