Ex voto thorns

Description

Ex voto heart handcrafted from recycled newspaper pulp. Inspired by Mexican hearts but with a South American touch, this ex voto heart is the work of Chilean artist Mariana Vilches.

Her ex votos are made with a paste using a mixture invented by her mother, sculptor Patricia Schmidt. It is cold-worked, avoiding any energy consumption, and solidified by adding plaster waste to the mixture.

Born in the late 1990s, this technique characterizes 100% upcycled manufacturing based on the recovery of materials that are no longer used in order to transform them into superior quality products. It makes this unique decoration a totally eco-responsible product.
