Candles

Votive candle or decorative candle they are all handmade candles made in Guatemala or Mexico. The tradition of candles in Mexico as in Guatemala has a strong religious side. Most are worship candles or votive candles. We often find decorated candles with images of the Virgin or Jesus or Virgin candles.

A votive candle as its name suggests represents a wish often lit in front of a divinity or a saint also represents a prayer. The candle also represents the light that guides the soul of a deceased often during the tradition of the Day of the Dead in Mexico.
