Mexican Milagros

Mexican milagros also called Mexican milagritos are small metal religious objects sometimes made of wood in various shapes but they are also small paintings generally made on a metal plate with scenes of life dedicated to a saint or a Virgin or Jesus. Milagro is also the literal translation of the word miracle but it is the word to designate an ex-voto. So a Mexican milagro like an ex-voto is an offering made to a Divinity in request or thanks for a good or a grace received. The sacred heart is the most widespread form of Mexican milagro.
