Colonial ex-voto heart

Description

Finely crafted by hand, this ex-voto heart is lined with richly detailed ornaments inspired by the era of Spanish colonization. Entirely in gold brass with a thickness of 0.3mm, it is cut and then embossed by hand by the artisan manufacturer. It is a perfect example of the centuries-old tradition of metalworking in Mexico, which was enriched by models and forms of religious art imported by the Spanish conquest. The gold color recalls the know-how of working this metal by the original Mayan populations but also the precious metal which was the compelling reason for the conquest of the Americas.
