Rodolfo Guzmán Huerta, known as El Santo, is the most iconic figure in lucha libre history. Active from 1934 to 1982, he never lost his mask in nearly five decades of career — an unmatched achievement. Star of over 50 action and horror films, he became a cultural symbol of Mexico on par with national heroes. He was buried wearing his silver mask, which was declared a national cultural treasure.

Lucha libre is a living tradition of Mexico, born in the 1930s and inseparable from its legendary arenas: Arena México in Mexico City, the cathedral of Mexican wrestling inaugurated in 1956, Arena Coliseo, and Arena Puebla. Every Friday night, thousands of spectators gather to watch masked técnicos and rudos clash in spectacular bouts.
