El Santo — The Silver-Masked Legend
This embroidered patch reproduces the mask of El Santo, the most iconic figure in Mexican lucha libre. Active from 1934 to 1982, Rodolfo Guzmán Huerta never lost his mask in nearly five decades of career. Star of over 50 films, a cultural symbol of Mexico, he was buried wearing his silver mask, declared a national cultural treasure.
Lucha libre is a living tradition of Mexico, born in the 1930s and inseparable from its legendary arenas: Arena México in Mexico City, the cathedral of Mexican wrestling inaugurated in 1956, Arena Coliseo, and Arena Puebla. Every Friday night, thousands of spectators gather to watch masked técnicos and rudos clash in spectacular bouts.
