My beautiful heart

From the 11th century to the present day, in 8 playful comic strips, the illustrator Citlali Souloumiac, a young Franco-Mexican artist, tells the story of the ex-voto heart, this very particular object charged with the spirituality of the person who shapes it with his hands and his heart.

An ex-voto, above all, is a bit of the soul of its maker that we bring into our home. When there is no artisan, there is no more soul.

Ex-votos hearts Tienda Esquipulas

Faithful to Latin American tradition, the ex-votos hearts offered to you by Tienda Esquipulas are all authentic and entirely handmade. This is what makes each piece unique. Various manufacturing methods are used depending on their region of origin, the most widespread is the manual cutting, embossing and painting of the object.

Each of the 3 scenes was available in nicho, poster and postcard. For the niches (“nichos”), the Mexican artisan hand-painted the decor imagined by Citlali Souloumiac which surrounds each of the illustrations.

Festival of ex-votos hearts – Camille Lucot for Tienda Esquipulas

Should we give more?

In the offering, the quantity is the demonstration of pure devotion, while at the bottom, they are devoured and absorbed by wandering souls who only expect love and peace.

This framework tries to retain these offerings, but it is hard to contain them when a divine force comes to suck them away.

Frida Kahlo – Camille Lucot for Tienda Esquipulas

A portrait of Frida wearing an ex-voto headdress, perhaps she made offerings before coming to pose in this frame?

These two parrots settled there and took up residence there. Just like the vegetation which continues to grow since Frida spread her ideas to the whole world I

The ex-votos in the corner of the scarf are here as a stamp, they support the decor which is emotionally unstable.
